To the south of the Alps, in a country named Croatia - en route from Zurich, Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, Munchen, Vienna or Budapest through the city of Zagreb or, from the direction of Italy, through the city of Trieste and Rijeka on the northern Adriatic Coast - to the south of the Adriatic Sea, there is an OASIS OF PRESERVED NATURE which is big for the European relations and to the majority of people still more or less unknown! Its name is the Lika Region! This rich, beautiful and still pristine nature offers a powerful support in searching for natural harmony and provides an excellent opportunity in finding refreshing variety so different from our everyday urban life. In touch not only with this magnificent nature but also with the local inhabitants and local gastronomy you can nourish and relax your body, replenish your soul with sensations, and boost your spirit by the beauty of the area. There is no noise, crowd, or hurry here; there is only harmony and pleasure here arising from the meeting of the rock and the water, the field orchid and the roe-buck, the sky and the trees.
The night satellite image reveals Lika to be a scarcely illuminated region, as very few European regions still are. Villages are rare, mainly small and sparsely populated. This region abounds in lakes and rivers, as well as woods, karst fields, caves and mountains.
What light and what air does this nature emit?
All colours, smells, noises, cellars and cosy cottages where you can sleep, restaurants, hotels and places where you can taste gastronomic delicacies representative of Lika, and enjoy the athmosphere of mountain forest glades and views...Iris croatica has done some exploration on your behalf to enable you to bring a part of Lika back to your homes with you rather than spoil the harmony of nature.
You can come by your car. Or by bus. If you own an airplane, you can land at the little Otočac airport, situated in the Gacka Valley. It doesn't matter how you travel, it only matters that you do come!
